My Story

“Brainwave Teen Psychology is a non-profit (501(c)(3) in process) run by teens ranging from high school freshman to college students. We work towards educating, getting involved, and spreading mental health awareness. Brainwave accomplishes this via our wonderful departments and programs as well as our webinars with licensed mental health professionals and workshops hosted by students at Brainwave. And, you may be thinking: who created this? Hi, my name is Jayden Rodriguez, and I am Brainwave’s Founder & Supervisor.

Let me tell you a little about me and my inspiration about creating Brainwave Teen Psychology. I’m a Student at Rockland Community College studying Humanities & Social Sciences with a Psychology Concentration. I chose to study this because of my interest in psychology and wanting to pursue a career as a school counselor. My passion for mental health advocacy and pursuing a career as a school counselor comes from my family, especially my mom! My mom, Wonda, is a school counselor at WHIN Music Community Charter School and a mental health therapist with a private practice. My dad, Joey, is a police officer in the Greenwich Police Department and my brother Josiah is an alumni from SUNY Cortland. My family has inspired me to work hard and always be involved in helping those in need.

COVID-19 has negatively impacted millions of families across the globe, including my family and friends. However, in the midst of it all, the pandemic also helped me create Brainwave composed of teenagers interested in pursuing mental health-related careers. Since July of 2021, Brainwave continues to expand and spread mental health awareness through the hard work of teens nationwide.”
